„About Mendelssohn – Mozart of a past world“
Concert for Violin, Cello, Piano & Reading
Two actors are reading a dialogue between Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn-Bartholdy
„What your student is already achieving now might match to the then Mozart like the educated language of an adult compared to the babbling of a child.“ A verbal miscue of a far-from-reality teacher-colleague? No, Goethe in original. And the rankings of the decades to come will prove him right: around 1845, Mendelssohn will be the star-composer called the „Savior of the English music world“. But two people observe him out of his own shadow.
The other one waits for the right moment. Before that he fawns over his arch-rival, tries to become part of his olymp. But then he is ready for his crushing strike – with the complete impact of his ambition and his aversion – Richard Wagner!
In „About Mendelssohn“, Felix and Fanny meet in the hereafter and talk for the first time about the many open questions of their life.
